AITPM TECHNICAL FORUM

Traffic Intelligence and Speed Management
(5:00pm refreshments for) 5:15pm – 6:45pm
Wednesday 6th October, 2010

VicRoads Theatrette, 60 Denmark Street, Kew

Intelligent Transport Systems have been deployed around the world with varying degrees of success. These applications interface across a range of critical network aspects, from intelligent public transit information systems and active freeway management to violation enforcement and vehicle tracking/positioning technologies.

With increasing population densities and increasing stress on the associated arterial road networks there has been a step-change in the successful application of such technologies over the last decade, and these trends are expected to continue at an even greater rate into the future. Australia, and in particular Victoria, is embracing these technological developments with enthusiasm.

This seminar brings together presentations on three critical aspects – the role of leading edge spatial data in traffic planning; the "ever-present" subject of speed enforcement; and the increasing application of active freeway management and other traffic intelligence systems across the Victorian road network.
